We ask that you provide a complete meal with a meat, side dish and vegetable. Many dishes can be enjoyed by all ages, but we ask you to avoid serving lamb, fish or exotic dishes. The majority of our guests are adults.
ALL FOOD MUST BE PREPARED AND COOKED ON SITE UNLESS IT COMES DIRECTLY FROM A RESTAURANT OR COMMERCIAL BAKERY.
Dinner will be provided for approximately 8 to 10 people. The actual number will vary. We can confirm an estimate a few days before your cooking date. Not all families will be eating dinner at the same time.
Dinner is served between 5:30 and 6:00pm. Your group can arrive between 3:30 and 4:00pm to begin preparing dinner. If your group requires more time, please contact the House Manager to inform them of your arrival time.
Our kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, roasting pans and baking sheets. We have utensils, knives, serving platters and bowls for serving.
Dinner is served buffet style. Please set up the meal on the island so that guests may serve themselves.
Please wash all pots and pans that are used for preparing dinner. All utensils, dinner plates, small bowls and glasses are required to be washed in the dishwasher.
All participants must be healthy; free from fever, cough, cold and other viral symptoms.
All cooks must thoroughly wash hands before and during meal preparation. Food safe gloves are provided and must be worn when handling food which is ready to be served.
If you are unable to prepare your meal, please try to provide a restaurant made meal instead.
Providing meals for the families staying at Jack’s Place is greatly appreciated. A hot, home cooked meal provided by caring volunteers takes one worry off the shoulders of our guests and gives them more time with their hospitalized loved ones.

We ask that you provide the necessary ingredients and bring recipes. Cookies, brownies and muffins are popular and wrap easily for freshness. Try to avoid or limit items that require refrigeration as they become difficult to store. Feel free to also make healthier snacks like fruit or vegetable trays.
